Marie's story

Updated on: September 1, 2010

I have finally made the decision to sell Lonesome. My plan was for Lonesome to live out his life with me whether we were breeding or not. Now I have decided that he needs to be used- there needs to be more wonderful 'Lonesome' mules out there. I get so many calls from folks wanting to breed their good gaited mares, but I am not able to continue to run this business without my husband. I will be happy to listen to offers, but will make my decision based on the best place for Lonesome. I will be selling the whole shebang; Lonesome, name, web site/domain, equipment, and gaited jennets.

So please contact me if you have an interest and I can get you photos, videos, breeding records, and stats. Serious buyers only.

We will continue to list client mules out of Lonesome that come up for sale.

As always, I love to talk mules and will be available for answering questions either by phone or email.

Happy Trails!

What is a gaited mule?
 The American Gaited Mule Association

A gaited mule is any mule that has a smooth gait other than a walk, and one which is distinct from a trot. Some gaits are; single-foot, fox-trot, rack, running walk, stepping pace, paso fino, and other smooth gaits, whatever you might call them.
Whatever the gait may be called, its primary virtue is smoothness. The gaited mule (or horse, for that matter) can be ridden farther without discomfort from the bouncing one experiences at a trot, and at a more manageable pace than a canter. A gaited mule is great for trail riding, for obvious reasons.

Mission Statement
Since the beginning of R&M, our purpose has been to raise naturally gaited saddle mules of good conformation and superior temperament and to promote the gaited saddle mule. In honor of my husband's memory, I will continue to do this and raise the type of mule that he loved and that have made R&M a success in the mule industry.
